This Radiation Surveillance Set was made by the famous German company "FAG-Kugelfischer", formerly "Eberline Instruments"
Until today, you never could buy such a modern instrument, being able to detect quite low dose of Gamma and Neutron radiation. (The usual radiation detectors only can measure quite high dose of Gamma radiation, but no Neutrons.
Main part of the systems is the readout unit type FH380GN, also known as IM7051.
Here the data of the dosimeters are received and processed.
On a digital display Gamma dose, as well as the Neutron dose can be read.
Furthermore, the unit can calculate the average amount of received radiation of various dosimeters.
Another main items are the individual dosimeters.
They look quite similar to a watch, they contain the measuring system to be read out by the central processing unit.
The measuring range of the personal dosimeters is 0 to 999 cGy.
Energy ranges:
Gamma radiation: 80 keV to 12 MeV
Neutron radiation: 0,2 MeV to 15 MeV.
The dosimeter is not a single-use or one-way unit; it is manifoldly re-usable.
During it´s lifetime irradiation will be integrated up to a maximum value of approx. 10 Gy.
Measurements are performed by determination of start and end values and subtracting them.
The lid of the readout unit is a combined power supply:
it can be operated with 18 D-cells (1.5V), (batteries not supplied), or
the unit operates with 220 V AC, or with 24 V DC.
The set consists of:
Readout unit IM7051, complete with lid / power supply PP7052
Two calibrating dosimeter IM7053 (one for spare), together with a special tool for changing the detector elements (TL7055)
One power supply cable for 220 V AC
FIVE ea. individual dosimeters DT7054A, the ones which look like a watch, are included.
More available for extra charge (listed individually).
The sets are obviously new and unused, not very old stock of the Royal Netherlands Army.
